Treatment Procedure
- Consultation & Examination: The process starts with a proper check-up at our Shirley clinic. The dentist examines the tooth properly, checks your bite, and listens from you about what you are feeling.
- Taking Measurements: Measurements are taken so the crown is of your tooth size that matches the tooth properly and feels natural once fitted.
- Tooth Preparation: The artificial tooth is then carefully shaped like your original tooth, this is done with care to keep you comfortable.
- Temporary Crown: A temporary crown is placed while the final one is being made. This will also protect the tooth in the meantime.
- Final Crown Placement: When ready, the permanent crown is fixed in place. Small adjustments are made so it feels right when you bite.
Post-Treatment Care
- Regular Brushing and Flossing: Brush twice a day and floss daily. Clean carefully near the gum line around the crown.
- Avoid Hard Foods: Hard foods like ice or nuts can damage crowns. It is best to avoid them.
- Night Guard for Grinding: If you grind your teeth at night, a night guard can help protect both the crown and other teeth.
- Limit Staining Foods: Tea, coffee, and dark sauces can stain teeth over time. Reducing them helps keep teeth look clean for long.
- Routine Dental Visits: Regular visits are necessary, so the dentist can check and keep an eye on the crown and surrounding teeth.
